What is Spironolactone-Tchaikapharma and what is it used for?
Spironolactone-Tchaikapharma 25 mg, 50 mg, 100 mg contains, as active ingredient, 25 mg and 50 mg, 100 mg spironolactone respectively.
The tablets are film-coated, i. are covered with a protective sheath.
Spironolactone belongs to a group of drugs known as aldosterone antagonists that inhibit the action of the hormone aldosterone. One of the functions of aldosterone is to maintain the sodium in the body. Aldosterone is part of a system that regulates the balance of fluid and salts in the body (the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system - RAAS). Spironolactone stimulates urinary excretion in patients who have accumulation of fluid in the tissues (edema) or abdominal cavity (ascites) by increasing the amount of sodium (salt) released in the urine. Loss of potassium, as a possible consequence of the use of some diuretics, is reduced.
It lowers high blood pressure and adjusts the potassium content in conditions where its concentration is reduced.
The antihypertensive effect is based on the release of water and salt.
